EFCC Arrests Nigerian Socialite Nzube Henry Ikeji Over Alleged $2.5 Million 'Fake Prince' Romance Scam
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly arrested Nzube Henry Ikeji, a Nigerian socialite, for allegedly posing as Sheikh Hamdan Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, to defraud a European (Romanian) businesswoman of $2.5 million.
The arrest follows an investigative documentary released in February 2026, titled "How We Tracked a 'Fake Prince' Scammer to His Nigerian Mansion".
The exposé detailed how Ikeji allegedly initiated contact with the victim via Linkedin in 2023, building a fake romantic relationship and soliciting funds under the guise of investments and humanitarian projects.
Earlier reports outlined the allegations and Ikeji's denial, claiming the transfers were legitimate donations to his foundation.
At that time, no arrest had been made, with authorities conducting investigations locally and internationally.
Recent updates confirm that Ikeji has now been taken into custody by EFCC operatives in Abuja. A spokesperson noted that formal charges have not yet been filed, and another potential victim has reportedly emerged.
