Today I will share with you why you should avoid a restrictive diet and go for a sustainable diet.
Which is actually a good thing to do but then I realize it's not just about eating foods to sustain oneself but there are healthy habits you need to learn to help you maintain health.
I will share with you small and easy ways to get healthier without dieting.
Dieting is the practice of eating food in a regulated way to decrease, maintain, or increase body weight, or to prevent and treat diseases such as diabetes and obesity. Dieting to lose weight is recommended for people with weight-related health problems, but not otherwise healthy people.
How To Get Healthier without Dieting
#1. The biggest mistake we make when trying to build healthy habits is that we choose activities we don't actually like.
For e.g hitting the gym and doing activities that feels daunting.
Eating fancy foods because it's supposed to be healthy 🤷♀️.
But then, here is the real question we should ask ourselves. Do you enjoy those things you do? Are you hitting the gym because you actually enjoy the activities that are carried out there or you're just going with the flow?
Understand that creating a healthy habit should be something realistic. It needs to be absolutely enjoyable, not simply doable or tolerable.
For a habit to form, you need a reminder like something you can see, hear of feel. This is what creates a desire in you to take a certain action.
If you don't like to run, don't.
If you don't like to uplift weights, don't.
Choose another activity you can do and enjoy to get yourself moving.
The things you enjoy should be part of the activity itself.
But if all activities feels intimidating because you're out of shape then start small, choose something that is less strenuous and enjoyable.
Don't be worried about how many calories you burn rather be more focused on starting the habit you like.
#2. Another way to get healthy without dieting is by developing the growth mindset:
A growth mindset affects the way we think about everything. For example, a growth mindset can help you recover from illness because you believe that you can do something about the illness. You could learn how to cook healthy meals. Growth mindset can help you achieve in sport, at work and can also help you grow and develop in relationships.
It is something you can develop, because all humans are capable of learning and developing their skills.
Growth mindset helps you understand that failing is part of the growing process. When you try something and it didn't work, you should move on and focus on what is workable.
Don't beat yourself up or allow yourself to be caught in the trap.
Creating good and quality meal for healthy benefits is all about mindset, what are you not making your meals?
