Africa has been painted in the minds of many as a jungle, a wildlife park, a place of turmoil, a static place of war, disease, and corruption. However, all these do not cover the truth. Africa is a beautiful tropical continent of diverse people and their diverse cultures. It is home to prestigious men and women with footprints in the sands of history. It is the birthplace of science and art. Most discussions today on the origin of science, highlight the Greeks and Romans but the beginning of scientific discoveries began in Africa. Since all these are true, it is wise to say that the world’s future rests on Africa.
Africa has a large number of natural resources; diamond, sugar, salt, gold, silver, petroleum, and cocoa among others. Africa is home to about 30 percent of the world’s mineral reserves, 8 percent of the world’s natural gas, 12 percent of the world’s oil reserves; 40 percent of the world’s gold, and about 90 percent of its chromium and platinum.
Little more has to be said to prove Africa is the future. When all those resources are put to good use, they become indispensable tools the world needs.
Africa is filled with innovative and resilient people noted all over the world as solution providers. They are very hard-working and never give up easily. In part, this is as a result of their cultures.
Africa is filled with diverse cultures. Africa is made up of about 3000 tribes and 2000 languages and dialects. Despite this large number, there are rare cases of a dispute resulting from cultural diversity. This goes to show that Africa is united. In Africa, the adults teach young ones values that are peculiar to each tribe from modes of dressing to the food they eat, their dialect, and even the way they greet themselves, Africans are very cultural. These values diversify the people of Africa but preach the same message of unity. In Africa, respect for one another irrespective of one’s origin is commonly preached in all her cultures. This is why Africa is relatively peaceful compared to some so-called developed continents.
Finally, Africa is the hub of the entertainment industry. Entertainment has been a sole part of African culture for hundreds of years. This was done by wrestling, storytelling, night-time dances, and so on. As popular musician Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu known professionally as Burna Boy said “Things always circle back to where they started from and music as a whole started in Africa.” Africa remains the past, present, and future of the entertainment industry.
The world is spending millions trying to get solutions to problems and get better when the solution has been sitting in front of it. Africa is the solution to this planet. All roads lead home and so, let the world come back home to where it all started: Mama Africa.
