It rained heavily yesterday so much that people thought it was not going to stop. You could hardly get to your destination without stopping by to wait for the rains dropping intermittently. It began with signs of little drops, then, drizzles that graduated into showers with its thunderstorms and so much flooding revealing bad drainage in our city roads and untarred streets. Where I stopped by to wait for the rain, many complained about the continuous rainfall.
A few took the time to gist. Some jumped into the rain and went away. Where I perched at the Government house bus stop here in Owerri, I chose to worship all through the rains. Guess the song that refused to leave my lips, "Open the floodgates in abundance, and cause your rain to fall on me... ". Funny. But it's true. I enjoyed the song so much that everyone could hear my voice and wonder why I chose such kind of song when everyone was itching for the rain to stop. Well, like my brother Dino Melaye would say, "if you say the truth, you die. If you lie, you die. So, it's better to say the truth and die".
If I don't sing the rain would still go on and fall, afterall, it's raining in its season.
By the way, if you look out from your window now, if you live in Owerri, the shinning sun will make you doubt if it ever rained or just stopped raining. This is what happens to us in life. When challenges set in, they begin to grow like the drops of rain that grow into rain storms. It seems like the world is against us. We begin to complain and give up on both God and life. We soon forget our faith and quickly begin to ask God, "why ". We allow the storms of life to determine the way we respond to life. I saw life from a different angle while it rained heavily. I kept my attitude and chose to praise God knowing fully well that after the rain comes sunshine. It may take a while ,in fact, a long long while, but certainly, it will give way for the sun to shine. Our lives are made and shaped by the way we respond to the things of life. I am yet to see a champion who emerged without going through hurdles. Ronaldo is today's world best player because he faced many teams, played and won matches and laurels to emerge the world best. So many times in the field of play, he suffered injuries, made mistakes that earned many red and yellow cards, but because he kept his attitude and refused to give up, see him where he is today.
You are the Architect of your life. What you see is what you get. If you see a stone in front of you as a stumbling block, life will stop you there. If you see the stone in front of you, however, as a stepping stone, life will lift you up. When men throw stones at you, rather than complain or throw it back at them, gather the stones and make a house with them. I love a particular Wrestler who after winning a battle, asks for more this way, "Give me more". I am still expecting another rain today, and I will yet welcome it with my lovely rainy song. If the rain gets to your area too, just know that AFTER THE RAIN COMES SUNSHINE
