Poyang Lake China’s largest freshwater in east China faces water shortage
, the Poyang Lake is facing extreme water shortages because of the loss of surface water, according to local authorities. Having entered its low season for 155 days since last September, the season has been extended for another month compared with the regular four-month period of dry season.
The water lever at Xingzi station around the lake was 8.37 meters on Friday, 2 meters lower than the average in the low season, according to local hydrological report. Netizens said it looks like a grassland now, not a lake.
