Zenith bank robbery; one fear dead and three police men injured .

Some suspected robbery gang on Wednesday 22nd February, 2017 stormed Zenith Bank branch along Wetheral road Owerri, Imo state capital, three Police men sustained various  injuries,  one of the armed robbers was short dead.

Information gathered that the four armed robbery gang arrived the bank with Toyota Camry in a shoot out but policemen attached to the bank who swiftly responded by gunning down one of the gang foiled the successful operation by the robbers.


The Spokesperson of the Police in the state, Mr Andrew Enwerem, confirmed the robbery incident, on getting a distress call that zenith bank situated along Wetheral road Owerri was under attack. The Imo State police command were said to have mobilised their men, a combined team of Police led by the Commissioner of Police,  CP Taiwo Lakanu, and other detectives to the scene that  prevented the armed robbers from stealing money.



The DSP Enwerem stated that AK47 Rifle with 100 rds was recovered from the dead Armed robber with three magazines." And also stated investigation is on going if the robbery was aimed at the back or was a case of one of the customer.
