The distance between Canada and Greenland is just about 26 km, while the distance between Greenland and Denmark is about 3,000 km. The primary reason President Donald Trump is interested in Greenland is strategic. The Golden Dome under consideration is designed to cover all of North America - the United States, Canada, and potentially Mexico. Since Greenland is physically close to Canada and the United States, it makes little sense for Canada to be fully protected while Greenland is left out as a loophole for missile or hypersonic attacks.
