A library of exchanged books officially opened to the public on Thursday at a shopping mall in Nanjing, eastern China’s Jiangsu Province.
The library, the first of its kind in the city, allows local citizens to borrow books by leaving one of their own in return.
Despite China’s comparatively low reading rate, interest in books is on the rise thanks to several hit TV reality shows including “Readers”, which combines real life stories with literature.
Encouraging book bartering, the library is expected to promote people’s passion for reading as well as sharing cultural resources.
